Provo City is allowing residents the raise chickens within city limits, and it doesn’t just have to be on a farm. Not everyone is in agreement on the topic either.
In my next Mormon Times article, I share my own story with a “chick” close to home. The article will be out Monday, May 4.

Why were they illegal in the first place??? I don't understand, hope you can clear that up in your article. Lots of people over here keep chickens if they have a big enough yard. A woman brings in and sells the eggs her chickens lay. Free Range eggs always seem so much tastier...:)

I don't know whether or not it was legal, but in Los Angeles - where I grew up, people had chickens AND ROOSTERS in their yards a lot. It was loud and annoying...I don't think I would be in favor of this, but maybe if it was chickens only and no roosters under any circumstances.

I guess it's ok to have chickens in the city, as long as they are properly cared for; and maybe even extra care to keep the chicken coop clean and tidy.
Look on the bright side, it could make for some tasty dinners.
I think that is hilarious! I can just see it now... neighbours taking their chickens for walks, on leashes of course, while waving kindly to one another. Ah, the simple laid back life. Who wouldn't want a chicken for a pet in the middle of the city? Do they come house trained?

Your poor mom. She must spend at least a part of her days rolling her eyes at the antics of her boys; and wondering what you'll come up with next.
