So, last week I went to see Star Trek with a few of my friends in Vegas. (For those of you whom I did not visit, please accept my apologies. I will be down there again sometime soon.)
I gotta be honest; I was a little skeptical about the move to begin with. Although I'm a closet trekkie, I was unsure about how this movie was going to play out. I decided to lower my expectations for the movie; as mentioned in last week's tweet. Much to the surprise of most (John's not one for these types of movies) we all thought it was quite good.
I was a little nervous when Leonard Nimoy made a cameo appearance, but writers did a fantastic job in scripting his part into the movie. I'm so glad they didn't ask William Shatner to be in it. That would have ruined the movie.
...but that's just my opinion. :)

Too funny! I agree that Shatner would have ruined the movie. He unfortunately seems to be past his expiration date for maximum freshness.
My hubby saw Star Trek at a pre-release viewing and thought it was over all pretty good.
Not being a trekkie, I'll wait for it to hit "On Demand" with our cable provider.
I have to say Don. I'm so not a Star Trek, but Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Other than that, I'm not a fan. I was more a Babylon 5 fan.
I guess its good he's not in there, but he's going good at 70 something.
Hey, Don. Have you seen Wolverine yet and if you have how was it.
My daughter and I saw Star Trek last evening and we both enjoyed it very much. As she is only 20 I needed to explain quite a few things to her; but afterwards she was hoping; as am I for more movies to be made with this wonderful cast. So many things we left open-ended.
Actually I would have enjoyed seeing Shatner and perhaps if they decide to follow-up and make more films he might make an appearance.
Just a question.. what do you all think was the signifance of the young boy hitch-hiking at the beginning of the film. I could see no reason for him to really have to be there; so I wondered if he was a son of someone in the movie or if he is maybe is foreshadowing or something????
Awww....I like William Shatner, and I like him on Boston Legal...Denny Crane! I don't think I will be bothering with this movie, I hate all the remakes and prefer to stick to the original and best series. Live long and prosper...
wow...who knew you were so opinionated?
i loved it too....
Hi Don,
Have to say as a Trekker Loved it! went thinking I won't but think they did it very well and paid respect to the actors who protrayed those charactors we came to love.
